The author of Murnal Blog himself is an aspirant. He is taking up very pertinent queries on his blog. I have subscribed to his blog. I generally do not recommend any other identity. However, in his case, I have found that he has taken up such questions and queries that are sought by new aspirants and answered them in a very effective manner.

It seems that he has been associated with a website India Officer. He has borrowed material from numerous sources especially like upscportal.com. In one of his write up, he has remarked that the people do not like to read the manuals. They require specific information. Now, it is here, that many bloggers like us are becoming useful. Before, recommending anything read the whole material yourself. Understand the requirement and then share the information. There are many e-books which I have been sharing only when some of you have approached me on phone or through email. However, in his case, as he seems to know some tweaking with html, xml and good understanding of free resources (anyhub.net, But I am bit reluctant to use every free resource on the internet), he has developed a better blog and assembled a good assortment of widgets and IT resources.

The India Year Book 2011, a reference manual published by Publication Division of India is available on the site of Publication Division. To access the book Click HERE.

During recent analysis of the last year papers, it has been found that lesser number of questions are based on the contents of the India Year Book. Even then, it is recommended that reading of this book is essential as it otherwise helps to understand many aspects of Indian Polity and Economy which require special study.

I strongly recommend to retain it as one of the essential book to be read for Civil Services Preparation.

There is one bad news this time in case of this publication. Earlier, the whole book was available free of cost. This year, at least I am not able to download the whole book. Presently only five pages are available which includes the index of the chapter. The price is Rs. 345/-.

Europe is the major buyer as well as the technical hub of the world. However, there are some not so good signs coming out of Euro currency based economy of Europe. Greece is facing the security bond payment crises. Similarly there are indications of financial crises coming from Spain as well as Portugal. The Germans have raised a voice to disassociate from Euro Based Economy and revert back to German Marks. The Germany Chancellor has resigned in such a scenario. Europe is a major market of Chinese goods. China is emerging a major producer in the world. In such a scenario, the developing vibes between SCO and India has become an important topic.

BRIC: Brazil, Russia, India and China: The probable world leading economies by 2050: A Theory discussed elsewhere on this blog.

Similarly, IBSA: India, Brazil and South Africa another economic group expected to influence the world economy.

These two non-European Economic groups (different from regional group) are being watched and pursued with great expectations. No doubt, our present government is also giving lot of significance to these economic group relations. BRIC has been included on this blog even for 2009. BRIC and IBSA remain important probable questions for 2010 Prelims as well as in Mains and even in ongoing interviews. It should be prepared with preparing small notes on each economic group (Good material is already available on Wikipedia), the core description of the state heads, the governments, the capitals of the countries and main economic ratios of these countries should be included. (Again take help of Wikipedia and CIA fact books: A better way than what you can buy from market. Most of them are merely recycling of what is given there expect for one or two publications.)

The hitched report is included which does not give much peep into the topic but discusses different angles. It is intently chosen because it is on one hand required higher understanding of the international relation to which Siddarth Varadaranjan refers to and on the hand given a glimpse of opinions of tricky international relations. The notification of the Civil Services Examination 2010 has been issued. The notification has been issued in the Gazette in India Extraordinary of Department of Personnel & Training. The number of the notification for Examination Notice No. 04/2010-CSP is Examination Notice No. 04/2010-CSP. It can be accessed at the site of Union Public Service Commission.

The last date of receiving application is February 1, 2010 at Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi - 110069 by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier.

The Date of Preliminary Examination is May 23, 2010.

In case the aspirants find difficulty (as it had happened earlier in some regions) in obtaining Common Application Form of the Commission from the designated Head Post office as detailed in the above Examination Notice, they can contact UPSC's "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No. 011-23389366/FAX No. 011-23387310.

Wikipedia reporting is quite fast. The given link is about Miss World 2009 Kaiane Aldorino. The result was there by 10.57 pm IST (+5.30 GMT).

I am also watching Copenhagen UN Summit. The updates are coming regularly.

However, in case of BIMSTEC, the taking of Myanmar as the next chairman, was not updated even after 24 hours.

On the whole, the reporting is quite fast and must be giving the regular media run for their money.

I have found that even the bloggers are quite fast in reporting the new events. They are there with news just missing couple of seconds as compared to regular media. Wikipedia remains third but it is there within in couple of minutes.

There is a similar Act in USA which is called Freedom of Information Act. It is being aggressively used by research scholars as well as journalist fraternity there. However, in India, with the advent of Right to Information Act, many loopholes and a peculiar outcry by the executive, are giving different direction to the spirit of the act.

The Freedom of Information Act in America had given rise to many conspiracy theories in the administrative activities of executive in America. In the recent times, it had lead to revealing of the Deep Throat under Watergate Scandal during Nixon Tenure.

In India also, the death of Subash Chandra Bose and that of Lal Bhadur Shastri, and similarly, the reorganisation of states, the 1945 Shimla Conference, 1946 Cabinet Mission plan, the Constitutional Assembly working from 1946 to 1950 and many more are such cases which are being the topics of questions of RTI seekers. Similarly defence deals, the Shimla Summit of 1972 are other issues which are being rejected on the issue of Security of India factor.

On the whole, Declassification of Information on regular basis, well defined policy of declassification and delivery of the information and the RTI Act are important debate issue.

The issue as such can appear in Main 2009 but it is definitely a point to be prepared for Interview in March/April 2010.

Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between India and South Korea

India and South Korea have signed free trade agreement.

India is looking towards east for some years by now. As per BRIC theory, India belongs to four emerging economies of the world. South Korea is the third largest economies of Asia. South Korea has export based economy. South Korea in India can be identified with Hundai, Samsung, LG, POSCO and now South Koreans will be seen in the field of advertising, computer software (Samsung is a major hardware manufacturer), banking, garments, textiles, and many fields listed in the agreement.
