Q 81 BOTH TRUE AND R IS CORRECT EXPLANATION.IT IS DIABETES INSIPIDUS NOT DIABETES MILL.
IT IS ABNORMAL GENE RELATED DISEASE
Authentication/Validation/Verification/Argument
Vasopressin is a hormone which is responsible for urine concentration.
There are two types of diabetes
One is diabetes mellitus and other is diabetes insipidus
The diabetes mellitus caused by deficiency of insulin. One cause is genetic but there are many other causes. Hence, it is wrong to say that it is only a gene related disease.
The diabetes insipidus is caused by fallacious secretion of vasopressin. Other name for it is ADH that is anti diuretic hormone.
It is vasopressin hormone which helps in retaining the water and regulates the passing of urine. Hence the statement that "A person with diabetes insipidus suffers from excess secretion of vasopressin" is not the correct explanation and in itself is not right statement as per medical science.
Hence the answer is c.

Er. Tripathi, The above view is confirmed by another doctor who has done MRCP from Glasgow and Edinburg, that R is not correct expalantion.
ReplyDeleteLet us do one more thing. I am on forums of such teachers who enjoy indulging in such teasers with the idea how to get right presenation for the student. Let me put this query to them and see what sources and arguements they get for us.
Another source is Harrison book on clinical Pathology. Let me consult that book also.
Another source can be questions for PG enterance test and Plan on Rx.
Let us explore all such sources and see what we learn about it.
Er. Tripathi,
ReplyDeleteJust a query,
Is the explanation given in authentication not approved by Dr. C. G. Aggarwal.
What expalnation does he give?
What faults does he find in the expalantion?
Does he accpet "R" as a correct statement as per the medical science?
Kindly, answer.
