Justice Altamas Kabir has been sworn as the Chief Justice of India. He is the 39th chief justice of India. His predecessor was Justice S. H. Kapadia.

38th Chief Justice of India: Justice S H Kapadia
Justice S H Kapadia has been appointed as the 38th Chief Justice of India. A brief biography is given in the hitched report.
The outgoing Chief Justice is Justice K. G. Balakrishnan.
