Danny Boyle's Music wins Golden Globe for Indian Musician and plus three awards
Slumdog Millionaire movie directed by the BRITISH DIRECTOR Danny Boyle won four awards including the first Music Award for an Indian Music Director.

Last year, another IFS officer, whom the nation must remember wokring as a spokesman of the foriegn Ministry, Navtej Sarna (A boy from Chandigarh) has penned historic Novel "The Exile" based on the life of Maharaja Dalip Singh, son of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. That book is also added to the list important probable questions for Prelims 2009 for Art and Culture Section as well history section which I have yet to begin.

ESMA stands for Essential Commodities Maintenance Act in India.
NSA stands for National Security Act in India.
The two terms have been repeatedly used when they were used by some of the state governments against the striking truckers in India headed by All India Motors Transport Congress (AIMTC). The present president of AIMTC is Charan Singh Lohara who was arrested under NSA along with five other members of January 10, 2009.

FDI in Publishing Industry in India
The government is reviewing the policy of allowing the FDI in Publishing business. However, here the issue is not the question of the allowing or restraining. Here, the issue is that the Foreign companies have not made the investment to the level to which they could have done. It was a controversial policy decision when it was implemented in 2000. However, it has not brought in the money to the level as it was epxected to enter in the field of Publishing business in India. As a teacher, we have enjoyed when we bought the desired titles of Foundation Publication at an afforbable prizes. However, the foreign publishers have not shown the interest as they were expected to show. Now, the government is in its review mode. This issue is also an important issue in coming days if some extra facilities are provided to the foreign publishers.

Article 16 (4) and Sub-categorisations of Dalits.
It is a highly sensitive issue. The Centre is trying to give powers to the State government to introduce the sub-categorisations of SC in their state. The Apex court and High courts have already declared as anti-constitution move. It has brought in limelight the fundamental right 16(4) and Presidential powers under the Article 341.
The above issue, though sensitive and controversial, yet it may emerge in question papers. The suggestive articles 16(4) and 341 which is a presidential power may become important both for Prelims and Mains of 2009.

Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holders who are qualified professionals can practice in India. The Government of India has allowed this for Pravasi Bharti.
What does that mean?
Now there may be legal firms with team of their lawyers and CAs in every town.
There will be increase in Medicine students admission to East European country from where they would now claim OCI status.

The motive of this post is only to collect the name of the heads of the leading institutions of India. There is proposal to merge all the State Banks into a single identity. Last year, State Bank of Saurashtra had already been merged. The merge will make State Bank a big financial institution of India. This year itself it has already opened 11111 branches. Hence, this is already an institution of eminence.
Secondly, there is now trend of asking question on capital market also. The economic section should be further divided into Core Economic Issues and Capital and Business world. On the whole, from 2004 onwards I have counted more than fifteen people or identities related to capital market and Business world had been asked. Some times, there were simple questions like which was the oldest Stock market in world. Similarly, Kiran Majumdar of Biocon and Indra Noogy have appeared twice in the Prelims itself during this period along. Hence, it make sense to collect their names.
