Mohinder Kapoor, an established playback singer of erstwhile golden era of Bombay Film Music Industry, which was dominated by Mohammad Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar, Talat Mehmood and Hemant Kumar among the male voices and Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle among female singer passed away on September 27, 2008, Sunday at Mumbai.

He was from Amritsar Punjab. He was given a break in Hindi film playback music by C Ramchandra also popular as Chitalkar. Mohinder Kapoor became famous with his first song Adha hai Chandrama Raat Aadhi. His another famous song is Chalo Ek Baar Phir Se from Gumraha. Another famous song was Nile Gagan ke Tale, Dharti ka Piyar Phale.

As it was popular in 60s and 70s that each singer was identified with some leading hero of that period, therefore, as Mukesh was popular playback for Raj Kapoor then Mohinder Kapoor was made a team with Manoj Kumar. No doubt, many patriotic songs by Mohinder Kapoor are still popular. Among them, the popularity of Mere Desh kee Dharti Sona Ugle of Upkar of Manor Kumar is still recognized.
